What Is GAPS Diet?

GAPS (Gut And Psychology Syndrome) is the condition which is behind many mental and physical problems, which children and adults suffer from, such as autism, hyperactivity and attention deficit, dyslexia, dyspraxia, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders and more.

This term was created by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride, MD, MMedSci (neurology), MMedSci (human nutrition) in 2004 after working with hundreds of children and adults with neurological and psychiatric conditions, such as autistic spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD/ADD), schizophrenia, dyslexia, dyspraxia, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bi-polar disorder and other neuro-psychological and psychiatric problems.

GAPS establishes a connection between the functions of the digestive system and the brain.

The GAPS protocol follows some strict nutritional rules and has to be followed for at least two years without exception. It is a lifestyle change, at the end of which most symptoms if not all have disappeared after restoring the integrity of the gut flora and addressing the root cause of the issues.

I am a Registered GAPS Practitioner and will support you along that journey. I'm a big believer in this protocol since my own daughter suffered from debilitating eczema for 5 years during which I tried many different approaches, including traditional medicine with high doses of cortisone and immuno-suppressant drugs. After almost two years on the GAPS, she is now 90% healed. You can read my experience on my blog.
